In All About Me, Hopeful Aging will be developing a game that will be played by persons with dementia who are moving into Long-Term Care (LTC), as well as their family care partners. This game will provide an enjoyable way for the new resident and family care partner to provide information about the resident's background, interests, hobbies, personal preferences, and so on. The information obtained during this game will then be used to create community-specific activity programming for all residents living at the LTC community. This will provide a unique form of engagement that will simultaneously build relationships between residents. Gregg Gorzelle and Michael Skrajner are both serving as Principal Investigators for this NIH / NIA-funded study (1 R43 AG077993-01 ). The SAFE at Home study will be recruiting LTC communities and residents soon, so stay tuned!
In SAFE at Home, Hopeful Aging is developing and evaluating an innovative new service that will provide social engagement to persons with dementia living at home. This service first connects older adults with similar interests. Then, a highly trained activity professional facilitates group-based activity sessions via videoconference using evidence-based activity materials. Michael Skrajner is the Principal Investigator for this NIH / NIA-funded study (1 R43 AG075974-01 ). Hopeful Aging will be recruiting participants soon, so stay tuned!
